A new source of life !

Finally, after months of toil and toil we managed to reach water at a depth of 30 meters ! Initially, we had hoped to find water at 14 meters. We had to go a lot deeper than expected, but we succeeded: From now on, the village of Santhie Bamba, with 400 inhabitants, has drinkable water.

Linssen Yachts donates €6.102 to "Water for Toubacouta"

**Linssen Yachts donates €6,102 to Water for Toubacouta!** On Friday, November 15, 2024, Linssen Yachts from Maasbracht celebrated the conclusion of their special 75th anniversary year. Throughout this festive year, the family business raised funds for three charities: Stichting Kinderhulp, Maas Cleanup, and our project *Water for Toubacouta*. For every jubilee edition yacht sold, Linssen Yachts made a donation to these charities. Additionally, they encouraged their customers to support the projects further. Thanks to this incredible initiative, we received a cheque worth an impressive **€6,102**! We are deeply grateful for this contribution. This donation will likely enable us to provide two villages in the Toubacouta region with much-needed water wells. This is no longer just a drop in the ocean but a significant step forward for the communities in this area. On behalf of the people of Toubacouta: **Thank you, Linssen Yachts!** Together, we are building a future where access to clean drinking water is no longer a luxury but a basic right for everyone. 💧✨

Work in progress

The works for our next project have started. We will realize a well in a village 24 kilometers from Toubacouta. The village has about 400 inhabitants and has neither water nor electricity. Until now, they depend on nearby villages to provide fresh water. So we hope to make a world of difference with the realization of this well.

Laurens Vanthoor will support us !

We have extremely good news !!! Today, Laurens Vanthoor, one of the very best Belgian racing drivers in the world, has pledged his support to our Water for Toubacouta project ! Laurens is a pilot for "Team Penske" and active in the "World Endurance Championship" with a Porsche 963 Hypercar. Laurens and his wife Jacqueline founded "The Larry Foundation" in November 2022. They are now donating a fair amount of money to our ASBL to realise our goals. In addition, Laurens Vanthoor wants to attach his name to our project, hoping in this way to convince additional sponsors to support us. We are of course very happy about this, as it gives our project a new dimension. Thank you Laurens, Jacqueline and Emily. With your help we can make a difference at Water for Toubacouta Information about "The Larry Foundation" can be found via the following link :

Why are Senegalese trying to flee to Europe ?

More and more Senegalese are trying to reach the Canary Islands in rickety boats, by sea. For example, from the coastal town of Mbour. It is a life-threatening crossing of about 1,500 kilometres. One of the main causes of this migration are the fisheries agreements that the Senegalese state has concluded with the European Union, among others. According to the Senegalese, European and Chinese companies are completely fishing their sea, leaving them with no income of their own. The economic aftermath of the Corona crisis, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine are also causing skyrocketing inflation in Senegal. Young people are therefore going in search of happiness by fleeing Senegal. It is therefore very important to offer prospects to local people and ensure that they can "survive" locally, and not have to flee the country.
