Water for
Toubacouta

A sustainable solution
with opportunities for the future

Our project?

Renovation Project School Bambadala

New Hope for Bambadala Primary School Thanks to Belgian Support In the village of Bambadala, near Shantie Bamba—where a water well was previously built with support from The Larry Foundation—a major step has recently been taken to improve education. The local primary school, which serves children aged 6 to 12 across three classrooms, was in a dire state. During a visit in February 2025, it became clear that students were learning in extremely poor conditions: the floors were made of compacted dirt, and the school benches were cracked, splintered, and uncomfortable. Thanks to the generous support of Linssen Yachts from Maasbracht, the entire school floor was renovated and replaced with durable concrete tiles. In addition, The Larry Foundation funded the complete refurbishment and reupholstering of all school benches. The impact has been remarkable: since the renovation, the number of students has increased by 30%—a hopeful sign in a region where the illiteracy rate remains around 95%. This collaboration demonstrates how targeted support can make a direct and lasting difference in the lives of children in vulnerable communities.

Our source has a name

Yesterday, our well in Shantie Bamba received its name. The realisation of this well was only possible thanks to the sponsorship of the ‘Larry Foundation’. We would therefore like to sincerely thank Laurens Vanthoor for the support through his organisation. Laurens has since informed us that we may continue to count on his support in the future. Would you like to contribute too? Gladly, we can use all the help we can get. Many drops fill a glass... If you want to support us, please contact us!

Water brings live !!

On February 10, 2025, we visited our project in Shantie Bamba. We could see for ourselves that the well in this village has caused a real revolution. The inhabitants have built a large vegetable garden around the well and grow various vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, corn, salad, eggplants, carrots and so on. Since the water is at a depth of 30 meters, with the help of “The Larry Foundation” we installed a water pump that runs on solar energy. This, of course, makes it much easier for the residents to irrigate their gardens. They also built a fence around the garden with their own funds to prevent wild animals from destroying their crops.

Your contribution will not be a drop in the ocean, but the beginning of a sustainable solution

Why "Water for Toubacouta" ?

Poverty is very high in the region around Toubacouta. Public utilities are very limited and often unreliable or unaffordable for locals. Fresh water, for instance, is a major problem. The water supply system is very limited, unreliable and expensive. Surface water is brackish and few plants or vegetables can grow with brackish water. Therefore, we want to give local people access to fresh water by drilling wells.
